I started my 16 week internship at Wil Film at the beginning of the "Duck on Call" project. During my internship I worked as a rigger, which entailed rigging characters, props, vehicles, sets, and props for the show. For characters, I helped develop and refine the character rigging system, along with setting up and correcting blendshapes for the facial animation on both Kid and Adult models in the show. For the characters, I developed a Skinning Import/Export tool, which meant that, since the characters were built from modular pieces, we only had to create skinning once per model piece and let the script export the skinning to the model library on Wil Film's asset server, from which it could also detect which model piece was used and import the skinning to future models. I also developed a vehicle rigging tool, which made rigging vehicles faster and easier, as it was quite modular in its usage, resizing the rig to fit the vehicle in question in broad strokes, leaving only minor detailing and vehicle-specific features left for manual work.
During my internship, my general supervisor was Toke Rasmussen, he helped me to settle into the workplace quickly and efficiently, and helped me manage my tasks and gave me general guidance on how to work with Wil film's pipeline.
My rigging supervisor was Sabrina Børgesen who helped me understand Python for scripting and how to manage my scripts better. She also helped me learn and understand Wil Film's rigging systems and helped me understand some processes of rigging better.
Overall my time at Wil Film was very enjoyable and rich with learning and connecting with people.
